
WHO WE ARE
Rural Education and Development Society (READS) is a registered Voluntary Organization involved in Education, Health, Skill Training, MR Residential Special School, and Micro Financial Lending to SHG members and Rural Development Activities in Tiruvannamalai District. Seven young professionals and likeminded people have joined together and started this organization in 1992. It has been registered under Tamil Nadu Societies Registration Act 27 of 1975 and also with MHA, New Delhi under FCRA.
Its main focus is empowering the poor people in remote rural villages of Tiruvannamalai District. It believes in people’s ability to respond their own situations by creating awareness on their needs and the resources available to them to satisfy their needs through collective efforts.

The Vision of the organisation is to reach out and empower poor for self-reliant and sustainable self-help.
MISSION
To build capacity of poor and disadvantaged people in order that they are enabled to cross all social and economic barriers and there by facilitate their full development into empowered individuals.

Formation of off-farm Producer organisation for Handloom Silk Weavers-Supported by NABARD
